Simply put, I am a photographer who likes to travel and I’m a traveller who likes to take pictures.
I have been exploring the world for decades, starting when I was in my twenties. Now that I am in my 60’s, an empty nester with a pension, I have the freedom to travel whenever I want.
Prior to the pandemic I took really bad photographs of the fantastic places I visited. During lockdown I took advantage of the fact that I couldn’t travel and went back to school for photography. Now that I’ve started travelling again the goal is to take fantastic photos that I can share.
Why “The Travelling Granny”? Well, I’m a granny who travels, a lot. But the name has another meaning. Life is a journey, or as Rascal Flatts said “Life is A Highway……”. Everyone’s journey is different. We get to explore and experience different things along the way. Some of us enjoy staying close to home and some like to venture out. Regardless of how your journey looks, take advantage of everything life has to offer.
I was once asked to take a photo of an object that represents me. As I am always reinventing myself, sometimes starting over, sometimes adding to what I’ve built, I think of myself as Jenga blocks.
How do you describe yourself? What is your object? It’s never too late to learn new skills, nor is it too late to reinvent yourself.
The purpose of this site is to share my experiences with you. Some experiences come from epic trips I’ve taken and plan on taking and some will be from everyday experiences. I don’t plan on jumping out of planes nor do I plan on bungie jumping. I do hope, however, that I can step outside of my comfort zone along the way. I am excited to share my journey with you.
